SPREADING THE WORD
INGREDIENTS
For the French Toast8 slices of thick bread (such as brioche or challah)
4 large eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Butter or cooking spray, for cooking
For the Filling
1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup Berry Medley jam (any flavor works)
Fresh strawberries, sliced (for garnish, optional)
Maple syrup, for serving
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Prepare the Filling
- In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese.
- Gently fold in the strawberry jam until well combined. Set aside.
Β Chefβs Note: Donβt mix it completely to keep bits of jam visible
2. Make the French Toast
- In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, and cinnamon until well combined.
- Cut your bread of choice about 1 inch thick.
- Butterfly the slice from the flat side while leaving the edges intact.
- Spoon the filling into each slice.
- Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt a tablespoon of butter or spray with cooking spray.
- Dip each stuffed French toast sandwich into the egg mixture, making sure both sides are well coated but not soggy.
- Place the dipped sandwiches onto the skillet or griddle and cook until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
Once cooked, transfer the stuffed French toast to serving plates. Garnish with fresh strawberry slices and a drizzle of maple syrup and enjoy!
