Strawberry Jam Stuffed French Toast
This recipe elevates classic French toast by adding a rich, creamy filling of sweetened cream cheese and luscious strawberry jam.
Ingredients
For the French Toast
8 slices of thick bread (such as brioche or challah)
4 large eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Butter or cooking spray, for cooking
For the Filling
1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup strawberry jam
Fresh strawberries, sliced (for garnish, optional)
Maple syrup, for serving
Instructions
1. Prepare the Filling
In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
Gently fold in the strawberry jam until well combined. Set aside.
Chef’s Note: Adjust the sweetness of the filling by adding more or less powdered sugar to suit your taste preferences.
2. Make the French Toast
In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
Spread a generous amount of the cream cheese and strawberry jam filling onto half of the bread slices.
Top each filled slice with another slice of bread to create sandwiches.
Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt a tablespoon of butter or spray with cooking spray.
Dip each stuffed French toast sandwich into the egg mixture, making sure both sides are well coated but not soggy.
Place the dipped sandwiches onto the skillet or griddle and cook until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
Once cooked, transfer the stuffed French toast to serving plates. Garnish with fresh strawberry slices and a drizzle of maple syrup and enjoy!
