Strawberry Jam Stuffed French Toast

This recipe elevates classic French toast by adding a rich, creamy filling of sweetened cream cheese and luscious strawberry jam.

Ingredients

For the French Toast

  • 8 slices of thick bread (such as brioche or challah)

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Butter or cooking spray, for cooking

For the Filling

  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened

  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam

  • Fresh strawberries, sliced (for garnish, optional)

  • Maple syrup, for serving

Instructions

1. Prepare the Filling

  • In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.

  • Gently fold in the strawberry jam until well combined. Set aside.

Chef’s Note: Adjust the sweetness of the filling by adding more or less powdered sugar to suit your taste preferences.

2. Make the French Toast

  • In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.

  • Spread a generous amount of the cream cheese and strawberry jam filling onto half of the bread slices.

  • Top each filled slice with another slice of bread to create sandwiches.

  • Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt a tablespoon of butter or spray with cooking spray.

  • Dip each stuffed French toast sandwich into the egg mixture, making sure both sides are well coated but not soggy.

  • Place the dipped sandwiches onto the skillet or griddle and cook until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.

Once cooked, transfer the stuffed French toast to serving plates. Garnish with fresh strawberry slices and a drizzle of maple syrup and enjoy!
